STAY WILD!

What is Wild Horsemanship?

We aim to recapture the magic in your relationship with horses.

Remember as a child when you were drawn to their earthy, wild smell?  When you ran your hands over their coats in wonder?  When the velvety softness of their nostrils met a longing deep in your soul?

When you could  stand nose to nose with a horse for what seemed like hours, just breathing?  When manure was the best smell on earth, and rugging, feeding and cleaning out feet were not a chore but something that you were excited about.  Remember when you couldn’t wait for any time with a horse, and you would do ANYTHING to make that happen?

We’re seeking that soul connection

Kate and Legacy

A spark of recognition.  A willingness to do the work to communicate on some other level, beyond words.

There’s something about their size, power, strength and softness that mirrors the magnificence of our own soul.

It’s the wildness in you that can connect to an animal many times your size, read their body language, care about their feelings, understanding deep in your soul that just being around them is healing.

It’s a reverence.  Respect. Wonder.

Willingness to learn – with them, from them, about them.

It’s also the understanding that Horses are wild creatures.

They have to WANT to be with us, work with us, play with us.

In order to communicate we have to understand their prey animal brains, how they talk to other horses, herd structure and who they want us to be.

Wild Horsemanship is not about dominance or demands.

It’s about trust, appreciation, consideration and dignity – for both horse and rider/owner.

Whether you’re seeking to strengthen your horsemanship skills, explore the nuances of human and horse learning, or simply revel in the bond between species, Wild Horsemanship will offer you a transformative journey, guided by expertise and empathy.

“One of the biggest problems I see when working with folks and their horses is that the vast majority of people have been trained to always look for the bad things their horses do. Because they’re always looking for the bad, they easily overlook the little tries and sometimes have trouble seeing the good in their horse, even when the good jumps up and bites them in the butt.”

“I was drawn to horses as if they were magnets. It was in my blood. I must have inherited from my grandfather a genetic proclivity toward the equine species. Perhaps there’s a quirk in the DNA that makes horse people different from everyone else, that instantly divides humanity into those who love horses and the others, who simply don’t know.”
